Then last Tuesday, Pamela Jones, the owner of the highly acclaimed Groklaw posted a notice that she was shutting down her blog. PJ's final post announcing the end told of how she feels violated by a government that feels that it has a right to snoop on everyone, while at the same time preventing its citizens from knowing hat it is doing.
Is this a free country? No. Not even close.
PJ describes how she feels that her humanness is being eroded by the need that she has begun to feel to be guarded about everything that she writes.
I am sad to see her go. Groklaw has been a source of information and inspiration for me. She has made a real difference in the world by exposing stupid and selfish litigation. She has educated lawyers and judges about technology, while educating technicians about the law. She has shown how the patent and copyright systems are broken, and how the flaws in the system are being exploited to take way everyone's rights.
The world is indeed a darker place without her shining her light on misbehaving corporations and governments.
